DOR Procedure Cost in India

The DOR procedure, also recognized as Linear Endoventricular Patch Plasty (EVCPP), is a medical intervention conducted either independently or as part of heart surgery to address heart geometry issues or manage a heart aneurysm.

Indications for DOR Procedure:

Primarily used to replace a dysfunctional local aortic valve with the patient’s own pulmonary valve, the Ross procedure helps restore the heart’s elliptical shape, allowing it to resume effective blood pumping without necessitating long-term anticoagulant treatment. DOR Procedure Methodology:

• An incision is made to locate the scarred aneurysm.
• Circular stitches are made around the aneurysm’s edge to separate it from surrounding tissues.
• Stitches are tied together, occasionally involving removal of parts of the aneurysm scar.
• Dacron patches may be used for extensive scarring.
• Stitches are placed in the left ventricle post-DOR.

Preparation for DOR:

• Surgeons may prescribe specific medications.
• Certain medications may be stopped two weeks pre-surgery.
• Antiseptic skin cleanser prescribed before the procedure.
• Fasting for 6 to 8 hours before surgery.
• Taking prescribed medicine with a small amount of water is allowed.

Left Ventricular Reconstructive Surgery:

This modified DOR, used to treat heart failure, involves removing scarred heart tissue or aneurysms to restore the left ventricle’s normal shape. It can improve heart failure symptoms, chest pain, and the heart’s pumping ability.

Post-Surgery Expectations:

Patients may spend 5 to 7 days in the hospital, gradually increasing activity levels. Some may require an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) to address abnormal heart rhythms. Specifics about wound care, medications, and post-operative guidance will be provided before discharge.
